The women, Nam-Chin-Paik Vanderwood, 63, and Puson Hutcheson, 53, both of Talcottville Road, were each charged with two counts of prostitution shortly after the raid, which occurred at about noon Thursday, Vernon Detective Don Skewes said today. In addition to the arrests, police seized a large amount of cash and business records from the business, located in a strip mall at Talcottville Road, according to Skewes. One customer was in the spa at the time of the raid, but the man and a staffer were not engaged in any sexual activity at the time and he was not charged, police said. The Asian massage parlor has been operating since the early s, Skewes said, adding police had conducted an investigation into the business around , but were unable to find any significant evidence of prostitution. But based on findings in this latest investigation, Skewes said, the massages offered at New Seoul spa did not appear to be therapeutic in nature. Although the business was closed after the raid, Skewes said, there is nothing keeping it from reopening, at the moment. They are scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Nov. The investigation into the New Seoul spa began roughly two months ago when Chief Rudolf Rossmy received a tip about illegal activities at the business, according to police.
